Northwood Tunis
Tunis sheep are one of the oldest breeds of livestock in the United States. They are characterized by their lovely cinnamon colored bodies and creamy white fleece. It is also a common personality trait for Tunis to love being around children! We are raising quality Tunis for meat production and fiber processing. Our goal is to utilize every bit of the sheep possible, so be on the lookout for wool products like yarn, roving, and sheepskins.
Tunis are on the Livestock Conservancy watch list for being an endangered species. At Northwood, we are working to preserve this rare and lovely breed of sheep. We are also proud to participate in the Livestock Conservancy "Shave 'Em to Save 'Em" initiative. Contact us about purchasing Tunis wool products!
Nice to Meet Ewe!
Virgo
Virgo is one of our very first ewes to come to Northwood! She was bred by Katie Petersen at Pine Run Tunis. Virgo's fleece features the longest staple length and ultimate loftiness.
Greta
Greta was freshly born when we brought her home with her mama, Virgo. Greta has a darker cinnamon coloring than any of our other ewes. She is possibly the cutest of all the Northwood sheep, and she has become a bit famous with her T-shirt design. Check it out in our online shop!
Mathilda
Mathilda is another ewe from Pine Run Tunis that we added to our flock in 2023. She's becoming quite the sweetheart, and we're looking forward to her first lambs in 2025.
Charis
Charis is a lovely ewe from Pine Run Tunis. She has the prettiest face, and the most gorgeous lustrous fleece!
